Montenegro denies relocation claims

Friday, February 27, 2015

The Montenegrin government has denied reports made yesterday by the daily “Dnevne novine” in which the newspaper claimed that Montenegro Airlines will relocate to Belgrade and slash more than half of its workforce under a strategic partnership agreement to be inked with Etihad Airways this summer. In a statement, the government described the claims as “street talk”. Earlier this week, the CEO of Montenegro Airlines, Daliborka Pejović, said her carrier and Etihad would sign a strategic partnership agreement in four months time, which could see the Emirati carrier purchase a stake in its Montenegrin counterpart. Ms. Pejović noted that the new partnership will boost synergies between the two carriers, providing Montenegro Airlines with access to better airport handling services, reduced costs and other benefits enjoyed by Etihad on the market.
