Bosnian Wand Airlines suspends operations

Monday, February 23, 2015

Bosnian Wand Airlines (BWA) has officially suspended operations after the Airbus A321 it loaned from Air Mediteranee was leased out to Somalia’s Jubba Airways. Earlier this month, the Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate of Civil Aviation suspended all flights which the Iraqi-backed BWA planned to operate from Sarajevo, as it failed to secure necessary permits. However, BWA continued operating charters from Stockholm to the Middle East using Hermes Airlines’ IATA designator code. Hermes, an Air Mediteranee subsidiary, has confirmed it has ended its affiliation with BWA. The A321 has been repainted and handed over to Jubba Airways, based in Mogadishu. BWA employed some forty locals in Sarajevo and planned to fly to Stockholm, Malmo, Athens and Frankfurt.
