Adria to launch Maribor - London Southend

Thursday, March 18, 2015

Adria will launch three weekly flights from Maribor to London Southend Airport from June 1, every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, Adria Airways’ CEO, Mark Anžur, and the Managing Director of Maribor Edvard Rusjan Airport, Marko Gros said at a press conference this morning. Sales will begin on March 30. A mix of Airbus A319 and CRJ900 aircraft will operate the route. Despite the Slovenian media tipping that Adria will introduce a total of three new routes from Maribor, only flights to London have been announced so far. The planned service will mark the resumption of Adria's scheduled flights from Maribor for the first time in fifteen years. It is also the first time the airline will operate flights to Southend Airport, which is some sixty kilometers from Central London. Ticket prices will start at 69 euros and will be low cost oriented.

I think this is great news for those of us living in the eastern part of Slovenia. Good job, Adria, I hope this sticks around for a while! (... he said, while also hoping for future expansions of the network)

Brilliant news, For both airports, Maribor and London SEN. Maribor will finally get a regular destination, while SEN is growing pretty rapidly. I agree with the comment above, SEN is a great airport, when I used it for the first time, it was such a pleasant experience compared to the overcrowded London airports LHR, LGW, LCY, STN, LTN. I will certainly consider to use this route :-)
